CBC in FlexO - Project Summary

Partners - Orienteering-Pécs Foundation (Lead Partner) Orienteering Club Varaždin (Pproject Partner) and Zselic Orienteering and Leisure Sports Association (Partner without budget) - commit themselves to the successful continuation of their collaboration.

The general objectives of the project are building capacities of the participant organizations to foster integration of children and senior adults with special needs such as mental health condition in orienteering sport; developing awareness and tolerance towards children and senior adults with special needs including them in orienteering activities in the Hungary – Croatia border area.

We think that the FlexO Programme carried out in this international cooperation will bring concrete, measurable knowledge expansion to our volunteers already after the project, thus facilitating the day-to-day operation of our organizations. In long term Partners will be capable of organizing inclusive events and inviting children and senior adults with less possibilities or special needs.

Target groups of the project are:

-Volunteers involved in organizing orienteering events (typically young adult and senior athletes, parents of junior orienteers, friends of orienteers).

-Participants in the orienteering competitions organized in Hungary and Croatia, active athletes from youths to seniors.

-Participants in the Flexible Orienteering events (for example children and young people with special educational needs, children with autism spectrum disorder, senior orienteers with special health conditions etc.) Their families and caregivers, special education institutions.

The collaboration will last for 12 months.

The activities of the project and responsible partners are:

AG1 Project management (LP)

AG2 Communication (PP)

AG3 Preparation of orienteering maps and Flexible Orienteering guides (LP)

AG4 Introduction of Flexible Orienteering Programme (PP)

We would like to introduce orienteering to the public as a sport which is not only smart, but accepting and inclusive. The cooperation of our organization can be a positive example of how to include people with a disability in sport or other leisure activities. Our events will raise awareness of the fact that all persons have the need and the right to engage in sport, and that people with disabilities are entitled to adaptations to access sport on equitable terms. FlexO Programme is an innovative idea and a novelty for the Partners and in the cross-border region as well.
