Orijentacijski klub Varaždin
The Youth training camp of our O4All "Orienteering for All - Improving high quality learning opportunities for volunteers of orienteering events" ERASMUS+ project was realized between July 05-09, 2023. 29 adult volunteers and 42 young people participated in the camp held in and around Sveti Martin, Croatia.
Different types of training sessions and competitions were organized every day in the camp, where the adult Volunteers could acquire and practice the necessary knowledge (such as course planning and setting, the use of OCAD software, operation of the SI system, Build and run the start and finish (areas), operating the time measurement system, reading the SI cards, making the results and publishing it) under the guidance of experienced professionals. The many different exercises, the many enthusiastic volunteers with different levels of knowledge in the different areas, and the presence of experts who were available during the entire camp provided a good opportunity to apply and test different learning methods. The joint work and the ensuring of the inter-teams communication and task division between the Croatian and Hungarian teams was a special challenge and a valuable experience.
The young people participating in the programs were able to expand their orientation-, map reading- and other (e.g. language-, communication-, cultural-) skills and knowledge, which they can use not only in orienteering but also in everyday life.
In addition to the orienteering events, we also held two workshops, one of which was about course planning and setting, and the other one where the participants could get an insight into the financing issues related to orienteering competitions. The trip to Trakošćan and the castle visit, the afternoon baths and evening volleyball games added colour to the already varied and very enjoyable program.
The location, the high-quality programs and the cheerful company ensured a good atmosphere, as it seems on the pictures. Thank you for the support of the Erasmus+ program, because without it, all of this would not have been possible!
We are happy to announce the upcoming event (Short Term Mobility – Youth Training Camp) as part of our ERASMUS+ project: "Orienteering for All - Improving high quality learning opportunities for volunteers of orienteering events" which will be held in Sveti Martin, Croatia and the surrounding area from 05-09 July 2023 with the participation of more than 70 people from age 5 to 75.
This training camp aims to provide experience and knowledge for young individuals interested in orienteering and outdoor activities and gives learning opportunities for our adult volunteers in tasks to be carried out during orienteering competitions. During this training camp, participants will have the opportunity to enhance their orienteering skills as well organizational skills and broaden their cultural horizons.
During the training camp, there will be also held two workshops on the topics of course planning and setting as well as funding of orienteering events.

The first phase of our ongoing O4ALL project has been completed. It is a great pleasure for us that together with our partner, ORIJENTACIJSKI KLUB VARAŽDIN, we have also made progress in the area of project development, based on our professional work and experiences so far. In March 2023, with the expansion of our cooperation partnership, we submitted another application in the field of adult education in the Erasmus+ Programme. A decision on the financial support is expected in August 2023. The project data sheet can be found under PROJECT RESULTS.
